Ed McCurdy – When Dalliance Was in Flower and Maidens Lost Their Heads — Volume III
Outstanding High Fidelity Recordings — ca. late 1950s
The third volume of Ed McCurdy’s beloved series of Elizabethan and Renaissance bawdy ballads, this time on the Outstanding High Fidelity label. Where Volume I (Elektra 110) charmed with its illuminated manuscript cover, Volume III arrives with theatrical drama — a knight in full armour and a candlelit maiden command the sleeve. McCurdy’s warm baritone and Erik Darling’s nimble banjo make this an irresistible piece of vintage Americana-folk crossover.
